Shetland House — a home from home in the heart of Whitby
Nine comfortable bedrooms, 24-hour care, a chef in the kitchen and a garden with its own greenhouse — for respite stays, emergency stays and permanent residents.
Short stays, emergency stays, or somewhere to call home
Opened in November 2018, Shetland House offers a comfortable, safe place to stay — whether that’s respite for up to six weeks while a family carer takes a break, an emergency stay when circumstances change suddenly, or full-time residency with a team who’ll know you by name.
As a residential and dementia care facility, our trained team provides sensitive, round-the-clock support — and many families use a respite stay first, to see how it feels before making a bigger decision.
- 24-hour care from an experienced, well-trained team
- Respite stays up to six weeks — or permanent residency
- Specialist dementia care in calm, familiar surroundings
- Minutes from the harbour, in the heart of Whitby
