Our story

Nearly two decades of caring for Whitby

Town & Country Care is family-run and Whitby through and through — built on one simple belief: our community deserves the best care possible.

Where it began

Mandy’s story

After many years working within the care sector, Mandy Coates felt she could provide our community with a higher standard, more client-focused care package — with a personal touch.

She began researching and planning in 2005, and in May 2007 Town & Country Care achieved approval and welcomed its first clients. Within a year, Mandy had won the Pride of Whitby Business of the Year award for her contribution to the community.

The family runs deep here: Mandy’s son Daniel carried out the renovations of our offices and of Shetland House through his building firm — and shares his mum’s passion for looking after Whitby’s elderly.

I didn’t just want to provide just any care — I wanted to provide the best care possible for vulnerable people.
